尊敬的各位领导、专家，国际交流营的营员们：

大家上午好！

我是来自UniversityofCanterbury的BryanStorey，承蒙组委会的盛情邀请，我有幸担任武汉大学首届学生社团国际交流营国际大学生极地科学考察学术报告邀请赛的评委。今天，我们欢聚一堂，共襄盛举，一同庆祝交流营的开幕，我又作为评委代表发言，激动之情无以言表。

众所周知，武汉大学是中国历史最悠久、最美丽的大学之一。这里，有百年文化积淀的无形熏陶，有名师鸿儒的悉心教授，有汗牛充栋的图书营养心灵，有国际一流的实验室探索真理，有丰富多彩的校园活动增强综合素质。更为宝贵的是， 有一群刻苦学习、勇于创新和视野宽广的青年学生。

交流营的便是这群青年的盛会，而学生社团又是青年喜欢的组织载体。在这样的前提下，武汉大学首届学生社团国际交流营应运而生。交流营旨在加强中外大学学生社团的交流合作，以社团为平台让大学生拓宽国际视野、提升精英素质、强化领袖意识。

“国际大学生极地科学考察学术报告邀请赛”、“国际大学生商业案例分析邀请赛”、“国际大学生信息素养能力邀请赛”和“国际大学生‘快乐汉语桥’邀请赛”是交流营的主体部分。以大赛相约，来自20个国家的20余所知名大学的80余位学生社团成员最终成为营员，欢聚珞珈。

我是一名专注于极地科学研究的科技工作者，在这个领域，武汉大学享有崇高的声誉。世界气候逐渐变暖，南极冰山融化，给我们人类带来了深远的影响。研究南极是为改善全球气候变暖的重要手段，改善气候变暖是一件有益于全人类的事。这样的事，我们这些中老年学者在做，青年学生也在做。青年创造未来，更多的努力是靠青年，更多的希望源于青年。

未来是美好的，坚持学术信仰、认真治学研究，才会推动社会发展，才能造福人类。今天，在这样的一个场合，我感触很深。国际交流营这个平台的搭建，我们来自五湖四海的青年大学生才能在一起，用他们的真诚、执着、努力在不同的学科领域共创未来。

最后，预祝武汉大学首届学生社团国际交流营取得圆满成功！祝愿所有参加本次活动的同学们收获丰富，友谊地久天长！

(Dear Sir and Madam) Honorable heads, experts and all the participants of the International Exchange Camp,

Good morning!

I am Bryan Store from University of Canterbury. I am honored to be invited by the organizing committee to be the judge of the International Collegiate Academic Report of Polar Expedition of the First Wuhan University International Exchange Camp of Student Organizations. Today, I could hardly find words to express my excitement as we get together to enjoy the grand occasion and celebrate the opening of the International Exchange Camp.

As is known to all, Wuhan University is one of the most beautiful universities in China with a long history. Here is a place edified by hundreds of years’ accumulation of Chinese culture, a place full of devoted professors with a wide range of knowledge, a place never lack of books to fill the soul, a place with world first-class laboratory to explore the truth and a place with colorful campus activities to strengthen students’ comprehensive capabilities. More importantly, here is a place with a group of hard-working young students, who are brave in making innovations and have a wide sphere of vision.

The International Exchange Camp is such a feast for these youth, and the students union is a well-received organizer. Then the first Wuhan University International Exchange Camp of Student Organizations comes into being only at his proper moment. The aim of this Exchange Camp is to enhance the communication and cooperation between student organizations of China and other countries, and provide a platform for college students to broaden their international outlook, improve their capabilities and strengthen their mastership consciousness.

The Exchange Camp mainly consists of the “International Collegiate Academic Report of Polar Expedition Invitational Contests”, the “International Collegiate Business Case Analysis Invitational Contest”, the “International Collegiate Information Literacy Invitational Contest”, and “Happy Chinese Bridge” Invitational Contest and Exchanges over Chinese Painting and Calligraphy”. More than 80 members of student organizations from over 20 famous colleges of 20 countries finally get together at Luojia Mountain to become our participants of the exchange camp.

I am a scientist focusing my energy in the scientific research of Polar Regions, which Wuhan University is famous for. The rising of the temperature in the whole world and the melting of the ice in the South Pole have exerted a great influence on human beings. To study the South Pole is an important way to control global warming, which then will do great good to people all over the world. Middle and old aged scholars like us are doing this research, and so are the young students. Youth creates future. More efforts are to be made by youth and more hope is to be seen at youth.

The future is promising. Have faith in academic study and do academic research with an earnest attitude. Only in this way can we promote the well-being of mankind. Today, I have a deep feeling in such circumstance. The establishment of this platform---International Exchange Camp---makes it possible for young students from all over the world, with sincerity and perseverance, to work together to create the future of different areas.

At last, I would like to wish a complete success to the first Wuhan University International Exchange Camp of Student Organizations! May all the participants an excellent harvest! Wish an everlasting and unchanging friendship among all of us!
